This qualification reflects the role of individuals in the community, home or residential care setting who work under supervision and delegation as a part of a multi-disciplinary team, following an individualised plan to provide personcentred support to people who may require support due to ageing, disability or some other reason.


These individuals take responsibility for their own outputs within the scope of their job role and delegation. Workers have a range of factual, technical and procedural knowledge, as well as some theoretical knowledge of the concepts and practices required to provide person centred support.

The skills in this qualification must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State/Territory legislation, Australian standards and industry codes of practice.


To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 120 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of the units of competency.

Qualification will be delivered for 52 weeks.

No licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.

 Prior to enrolment or commencement of training, you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a Pre-Training review. These will assist with determining your suitability for the course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs

To achieve this qualification, the individual must have completed a total of at least 120 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of units of competency.

To be awarded the qualification of CHC33021 – Certificate III in Individual Support learners must successfully complete a total of 15 units consisting of 9 core units and 6 elective units.

Assessment methods vary as per the unit of competency requirement, generally, assessment methods may include all or some of the following:
• Written Questionnaires
• Scenarios
• Workplace Assessment Tasks
• Projects
• Workplace observations

 ACPS has a Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Policy, to ensure that an individual’s prior learning, achieved through formal and informal training, work experience, or other life experiences, is appropriately recognized.

 Credit transfer applies to situations where learners have completed units at another provider identical to those in which they plan to enrol
